About Roger
Roger B. Jones is CEO and owner of World Accessibility , a company that has developed communications devices and software designed to be accessible to people of all abilities. World Accessibility was one of the first companies to market a videophone which successfully worked over the internet and also developed a proprietary web interface suited to people with mobility or cognitive limitations.
Since becoming a quadriplegic in 1985, Roger's lifelong goal has been to address conceptual and marketplace constraints to accessibility. He has been an exponent of market-led solutions to accessibility, drawing attention to the untapped potential of "The Ability Market". Through World Accessibility, Roger helps companies find their niche marketing to this group, which currently makes up 12 percent of the North American population. This demographic is growing as the population ages.
As a consultant, trainer, facilitator and professional speaker, Roger has been a prominent Canadian voice on disability, inclusion and diversity issues over the past two decades.
Listed in Who's Who in Black Canada, Roger acts both as a champion of rights and access for people with disabilities, and a facilitator for governments, schools, and businesses facing the challenge of improved access for everyone.
Throughout his career, Roger has been a consummate believer in the need to give back to community. He has contributed to dozens of organizations and continues to sit on several boards and advisory panels.
Roger is also working with the Vancouver/Los Angeles Sister Cities initiative on the theme "Accessibility Means Business". This focus is becoming increasingly important in light of the approaching 2010 Olympics and Paralympics.
